Patna, Feb 1 (PTI) Bihar government will formulate a policy to provide jobs to sportspersons with distinguished achievements in the police department, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said today. The recruitment would be made in the ranks ranging from constable to the DSP, Kumar said after inaugurating the 60th All India Police Volleyball (Cluster) Championship at the BMP premises here. The government was also considering a proposal to give out-of-turn promotion to policemen who shine in sporting events at the national and international level, he said. Stating that the state government was committed to promote sports at the grassroot level, Kumar said all required infrastructure would be put in place for that. The Chief Minister directed the DGP, Abhayanand, to devise a schedule to hold state level sports meet for the police personnel every year. A few years ago the state was known for lawlessness, he said and lauded the police department for helping transform Bihar to a "peaceful and law abiding" state. The chief minister said the growth in the inflow of tourists in Bihar could be attributed to the changed perception of the state as a law abiding and peaceful place.
